A new Gay.Ru's project - the site for Ukrainian gays and lesbians - is launched in the Internet at www.Ugay.ru and has materials either in Russian and Ukrainian languages.
According to the data obtained from different sources the Russian site www.Gay.ru is being visited mostly by net surfers from Ukraine and United States. In summer 2008 www.Gay.ru has won the 3rd place among the world's most visited gay information sites, reports "Alexa", internet rating agency, leaving behind such popular international gay sites as www.365gay.com and many others.
The new site Ugay.ru will have materials posted in two languages - in Ukrainian and Russian. Its Editor in Chief is Ms. Aleksandra Lopata, a well-known journalist, popular not only among LGBT members.
"I have just came back from Kiev where I was a member of a jury at the international cinema festival "Molodost" (Youth) and its LGBT programme "Sunbeam". There I was convinced of the fact that gay-community in Ukraine is a sound and active part of the society that is able to achieve many things",-says Mr. Eduard Mishin, the Head of Gay.Ru's projects. "I am sure that Ms. Aleksandra Lopata, besides the fact that she is a talented writer, is able to become an information coordinator of Ukrainian queer-project".
A set of materials in Ukrainian language about Ukraine's well-known homosexuals is already posted on Ugay.ru. The bilingual news feed will be updated regularly and materials in Ukrainian language would prevail. Moreover, a number of BBS (communication and advertisement boards) is already launched and covers most of the big cities of Ukraine.
