Lena Katina (on photo), a soloist singer of the "t.A.T.u" pop-group was in favour of broadcasting TV shows that tell the audience about gay life style only after midnight. She made this statement on-live radio transmission of Echo of Moscow popular radio station of the Russian capital.
At the same time Elena Afanasieva, a radio jockey of a programme "Telokhranitel'" (Bodyguard) on Echo of Moscow Radio has also expressed her concerns about broadcasting programmes with gay content in prime-time. Obviously, she meant about the TV show where "an American family (mom and dad) was choosing a new boy-friend for their gay son". Ms.Afanasieva has equaled gays on TV with the beer commercials. (N.B.: Nowadays, Russian officials have passed the law limiting beer commercials due to the growing number of alcoholism and beer addicted youth).
Then, Lena Katina has suggested MTV Russia producers to shift TV programmes' broadcasting time grid, saying about gay related TV shows that "it can be broadcast only after midnight". Alexey Ephimov, the Director General of MTV Russia, said that Lena's idea was good and promised to take it into consideration".
We would remind you that MTV Russia today is the only open TV broadcasting channel that tries to discuss gay issues.
The Russian "t.A.T.u" pop-group in early 2000's became famous in Russia and worldwide thanks to epatage and commercial usage of the lesbian theme for the group's promotion. But the two soloists girls have never been lesbians, they just used this idea and soon it was called "lesbi imitation group" and many LGBT communities around the globe called for boycotting of "this pseudo lesbian duet".
