The "Miss Drag Queen of Perm 2009" competition took place earlier this month in Perm's mix-club "Ivy Lee". The show of drag-queens in recent years in Russia is earning a lot of admirers not only from gay community but also among straight people.
The crown and a lot of other prizes went to Josefina (on the photo). She was also given a certificate for 5000 rubles (150 US $) from the "Matrix" beauty salon, a cosmetics set by "Dgordani gold" and a touristic voucher for two persons on a river motorship "Nikolay Gogol".
The panel of judges of the competition consisted of people who are well-known in Perm's gay circles - beauty masters, singers, mode and style experts and even the head of a large tourism organisation from Saint-Petersburg.
There were seven competitors for the Crown of the Drag Queen. They went through the special knock-out tour and for the final the judges selected only three winners: Josefina (the Queen), Tatiana Zaostrovskaya (won the Sympathy of the viewers prize) and La Mulatta Na-Na (the Vice-Queen).
This Autumn the organisers of the Perm's Drag-Queen Competition intend to hold another Drag-Queen Show.
Recently Perm witnessed the growth of the local gay-life - there are six gay clubs available for the public. This city is going to outnumber Saint-Petersburg by the quantity of gay clubs and now is experiencing lack of professionals in the genre of drag-queens. As you know - the appetite comes with eating - local public that now enjoys the right to choose what they want, demands such drag-queen stars as Ru Paul and Dixi Tucker!
