Early night on April 11th, 2009 the Kyiv's police has conducted a night police raid on a local gay club "Androgin". The raid was initiated by the police in connection with the investigation of a recent murder case. In order to put an end to the gossips and fantasies around this case the "Gay Forum Ukraine", a public organization, wants to clarify the issue, using the information obtained from its own sources among the local investigating authorities.
This special operation in the gay club "Androgin" was conducted strictly in the framework of the on going investigation of the murder of Mr. Kandyba and the club's visitors were asked for any assistance to the police in this issue. The police bus with about 50 special mission unit policemen arrived to the club, then all visitors of the club - around 70-80 people were detained for identification procedure, the on going show was stopped and the police made a drugs search inside and around the club. The head of the special operation Mr. Eugenie Koval, the head of the Criminal Police Department of the Goloseevskiy district of the Ukrainian capital who is in charge of this murder case, gave a speech in front of the detained club's visitors, explaining the grounds for such an action. He excused himself and the police for the operation for any inconveniences caused and told them about the grounds and the main aim of the police raid operation.
Gay Forum Ukraine reports that the policemen conducted themselves in a very polite way because they were instructed to exercise political correctness. But nevertheless everyone who was in the club was taken to Goloseevsky police department for finger printing. (The investigation does not eliminate the suspicion that the killer was "hooked on" by the victim in this gay club "Androgin" although it is most unlikely to be true.)
