"The Rainbow over the Dnestr" pride's agenda was eliminated of gay parade and protest demonstration. The organizer of gay festival - "GenderDoc-M" explains its decision was made under the current political situation in Moldova since April 2009 and fears of the recurrence of violent events that took place on May 11th, 2008.
A year ago the participants of the Moldavian Gay Pride were using a bus in order to get to the place where demonstration was intended to be. Then this bus with the people in it were dangerously attacked by a crowd aggressively set against LGBT people. In that crowd of a few hundreds of homophobes were seen neofascists, religious fanatics and even some Afghan war veterans. Those homophobes blocked the vehicle and threatened the people in the bus with violent actions.
The 8th Gay Pride in Moldovian LGBT history "Rainbow over the Dnestr" will take place in Cishinau on May 7-9th. The first day's agenda consists of an award-ceremony of the journalists who participated in a contest "For tolerance", later that day guests and participants of this Gay Pride would have an opportunity to eyewitness the symbolic ceremony of same-sex wedding. The second day would be opened with a Communion ceremony run by a well-known she-priest Diane Fisher. During the whole day of May 8th different interest sections would be available for the public to join.
