The "Rainbow Kyrgyzstan" - first ever art-festival dedicated to the IDAHO day (May 17th), goes on these days in the capital of Kyrgyzstan. LGBT community of this former Central Asian Soviet republic does its best in order to attract the attention of the society to gay issues. The social fund "Labris" that fights for the LGBT rights in Kyrgyzstan is its main organiser. This gay action is backed by the Nederlands' gay and lesbian association. Kyrgyz LGBT community members managed to open in one private indoor premise an exhibition of amateur photographs, pictures and comics that reflect gay issues.
Until recently the "Labrys" social fund didi not intend to hold the Gay Pride Parade in Kyrgyzstan due to security reasons because if the local authorities would have agreed that gay action then it would still be impossible to maintain security of pride's participants, reports "Deutsche Welle".
