According to the data of the independent non-governmental organization "Amnesty International", whose goal is the protection of human rights in all countries of the world, there are continuous racist attacks, violence against women and violations of LGBT rights in Lithuania. This has been reported by a correspondent from the Baltic Information Agency (BIA), quoting an annual report by Amnesty International. An important aspect, underlined in the report, is the violation of human rights of the LGBT population, as such rights cannot be currently protected by the Lithuanian government.
Moreover, representatives of local authorities in Lithuania have allowed themselves homophobic slurs on numerous occasions, and the car of the European Union's Anti-Discrimination Initiative has not been allowed into Lithuania two years in a row.
We would like to add that according to the European Court of Human Rights, Lithuania has been sited 30 times for human rights violations since 1998.
