In 2009 the "Post of Moldova" (State enterprise) and "Moldova press" (a joint-stock company) - the two Moldavian monopolists - refused to put on sale the "Zerkalo" (Mirror) - a National gay magazine without any explanation.
"Zerkalo" - one of the oldest LGBT publications on the territory of the former Soviet Union - is being published since 1998 and is positioned as an educational (civilisateur) publication of "GenderDoc-M" information centre.
Gay.md reports, Mr. Alexey Marchkov, the Chairman of the "GenderDoc-M" information centre said if the situation would not change the next year then his organization would have submitted a complaint to the court.
The grounds for an appeal to the court, he believes, are quite weighty - the violation of the Law on press (part 2 of the article 16 of that law states: "Hampering of the authorized distribution of a periodical's publication by removal of a part or of the whole circulation of the publication or in any other way is prohibited").
