Preparations are being finalized for the third International Conference of LGBT Christians. This year it will be held in Kiev from the 3rd to the 5th of September.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened." These words from the Gospel of Matthew open up the forum topic, which is metaphorically expressed as "Knocking to Heaven"
The LGBT Christian Movement of Ukraine, the host conference, was officially formed in May of 2009. It brings together LGBT Christians from over 9 regions of the Slavic states.
"In Eastern Europe and Central Asia, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender people that follow Christianity, are often in need of spiritual and social support because of the fact that they often face a double discrimination - from society, and from the LGBT community" read a statement in a press release on the conference, which was circulated yesterday. "In this regard, the Kiev forum is intended to be a breath of freedom, acceptance, and a stronghold of spiritual and moral encouragement and support."
Applications for participation in the conference are accepted at lgbtforum2010@gmail.com until August 6, 2010.
