A new law that came recently into effect in Ukraine revoked the need to present the HIV certificate while applying for a Ukrainian visa. That discriminative rule was one of the topics of hot dispute between Ukrainian authorities and human rights watch dogs from Europe and the USA. Now this legislation is totally revoked due to amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On HIV/AIDS preventive measures".
Moreover, the new law prohibits spreading of information about HIV virus carriers. Since now this information can be given to other people only after written agreement of HIV infected person. The same procedure is effective in relations between infected person and his/her doctor including nurses. This law will help HIV infected people in small cities and villages where such sensitive information quickly becomes hot gossip of local importance to keep privacy.
