In Berlin, the European Forum of LGBT Christian groups is wrapping up. Russia is represented by the members of two Christian LGBT communities: "The Light of the World" and "Russian movement of LGBT Christians." It is known that some Christians, gay and lesbian, have gone to this event on their own initiative.
On the eve of the event, activists of "The Light of the world" also visited Finland where the Russians met with leaders of the Finnish Christian movement. Our northern neighbor has extensive experience in building relationships between Christian churches and the queer community.
Representative assemblies of the European LGBT Christians have been held for 30 years already. The motto of the Forum in Berlin is "Surrounded by friends." It is noteworthy that Germany is holding the event for the first time since 1998. Last year LGBT Christians were meeting in Spanish Barcelona.
More than a hundred participants came to Berlin, from various Christian groups and churches. Their main goal is the spiritual exchange in an ecumenical spirit, joint worshiping and prayer.
Lectures, master classes and seminars were held during five days at the Forum. Organizers also did not forget about informal dialog.
On May 14, Russian members of the Christian LGBT forum will be in Moscow speaking about the Forum's program and the prospects for ecumenical Christianity in our country.
