Despite the information that the "Equality Parade" was taking place near Chistye Prudy under protection of the local police, the action had been suppressed and, in fact, broken up by the same police, LGBT action members are reporting in their Live Journal blogs. Blogger named Igneuspuer writes that at least 5 people were detained.
For reference: the action was approved by Moscow's authorities but without giving any consent to raise the problems of gay hatred and LGBT issues. On that ground the police had been attentively looking after the actions' slogans and, according to above mentioned LiveJournal blogger, did not allow anybody with LGBT support banners to join the action. Anyway, one could see many people with LGBT symbols among the action's participants,. Gleb Sitnikov, member of "Yabloko" party managed to unveil Rainbow Flag and later was detained by the police.
On the other hand, the police also detained nationalists who had been planning to attack the Equality Parade (according to the sources in social networks). Russian news agency "Novosti", citing the representative of Moscow Police public liaison service, reports about detainment of some nationalists who had been pelting the LGBT action's participants with tomatoes. One of the nationalists even had a paint-ball rifle with him that was later confiscated.
In addition they tried to unveil unquotable banners. Igneuspuer informs about some disorders near and inside metro station "Chistye Prudy". "Ridus" project and other Internet users report about it on their web-sites (automated translation for Ridus here >>). In particular, one can find in the Internet the statement of Elena Kostyuchenko, a journalist. She called to LGBT people "to unveil in every sense their personality in front of their friends, relatives and colleagues in order to overcome prejudice".
You can find the report about the scuffle also on RIA "Novosti" web-site >>.
