Trans-gender movement, for various causes, regretfully and often, exists on the wayside of Russian LGBT projects, recently has been gathering strength in Moscow. "FtM-Phoenix" informal union of transsexuals starts to hold its regular meetings in the Russian capital.
The group leader Kirill Sabir told Gay.Ru that its regular meeting was planned on October 29 in Moscow at 6 p.m. (metro "Kurskaya", Bolshoy Kazyonny pereulok, bld. 1/2-1, backyard entrance with the sign "Community-center") where its members in friendly atmosphere could get to know each other and discuss the latest events in trans-world. "STP-2012" campaign was the main topic of the agenda with the aim to delete transsexualism from the list of mental disorders. The group also discussed possible actions commemorating Trans-gender Day (November 20, in memory of trans-genders killed on xenophobia, homophobia grounds).
It was the second meeting of trans-genders this year in the framework of "FtM-Phoenix" group. Its leader Kirill Sabir runs the web-site dedicated to trans-gender problems and is the member of the Ruling board of the European Coalition on Menshealth (EKOM).
"FtM-Phoenix" was established in May 2008 by a group of people united by mutual fate and ideas. "Each of us in some kind has gone through sexual transition (FtM, MtF) and we simply want to facilitate the life of people who had changed their gender and the people who surrounds us: parents, spouses, friends, colleagues, doctors, teachers, in one word - for everybody", leaders of "FtM-Phoenix" group formulate their goal.
