Russian LGBT-sportsmen took a harvest of medals on the Budapest Eurogames
2 Jul. 2012
More than 10 medals of various value were awarded to the Russian team at Eurogames-2012 - the biggest sports competition of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual. They ended yesterday in Budapest.

The team, consisting of around 80 people, had been prepared by the Federation of Russia‘s LGBT sports. What's interesting, part of the community got to the Hungary’s capital by bike. Russian gays made a kind of rainbow cycle race around Europe starting from St. Petersburg.

"Feeling awesome! Everybody thinks that Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. ...We witnessed the Grand opening of Eurogames. All the participants gathered in the village, walked in a column to the arena, where the ceremony was held. The gala march was protected by many policemen. At the ceremony, our command was the second in number of people among all. We were very organized on the opening parade...", - Russian LGBT-sportsmen shared their impressions on the command’s page in the social network.

Totally, our team took 10 medals. Full results are to be summed up soon. Howether, Gay.ru will not be listing the names of the winners... Unfortunately, there are too many threats to openly gay in our country, especially recently.

The first medals were two „silver" in swimming and „bronze" in badminton!

For the first time Russia presented two women dancing pairs on the games. And one of them for the first time in the history of international competitions in this sport made it to "bronze"!

Among the command games let's mention „silver" of Moscow command "Krylya" in soccer. And, of course, real „yield" of medals in tennis - three "bronzes" and a "silver". Also, Russian participants of table tennis weren’t left without awards.
