Rainbow News"Don't Say Gay" Russian regions to discuss the "danger" of LGBT
1 Aug. 2012
A "danger of LGBT activity" will be discussed in "gay hate" cities that have banned "homopropaganda". The Russian LGBT Network is organizing special round-tables on side-effects of gay hate legislation in six Russian regions where, owing to the efforts of conservative deputies (backed by clericals), huge fines were imposed for so-called "homosexuality propaganda" among minors.
Educational seminars and round-tables will be open from August 5 to September 3 in Astrakhan', Kostroma, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk, Perm' and Samara. Its main theme are the methods and ways to keep up gay activism under continuous censorship of the local authorities in the atmosphere of intimidation and public reprimand of LGBT community for its gay lifestyle.
"Now, when the Russian LGBT community is faced with the serious threat of adoption of gay hate laws in the majority of Russian regions, we need to be united and cooperative in order to overcome public homophobia and discrimination...", says the statement of the Russian LGBT network that was published recently.
"Every one who is "dissent" as well as every gay friendly heterosexual, everybody who accepts the principles of the development of the modern civilization on the basis of tolerance, human rights and freedoms, is welcomed to participate in it. There is also one specific aim present - "to understand whether the activities of the local LGBT communities are dangerous for the public and how to continue for LGBT organizations to work under given circumstances".
For registration in this gay event, citizens of Astrakhan', Kostroma, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk, Perm' and Samara should write to the following e-mail: valery@lgbtnet.ru.
