Rainbow NewsLGTB pride week was launched in Minsk. The proposed anti-homophobia march was postponed to October, 30.
6 Oct. 2012
One of the organizers of the Week of pride of LGBT-community Sergey Androsenko confirmed that all the earlier announced actions of the eighth Minsk gay-pride will take place as planned, the portal Naviny.By reported.
"The gay-pride planned to be held in Minsk from October, 5 till October, 11 will include 15 events: concerts, presentations of books, discussions, seminars and round tables. Among the largest actions - the sixth Belarus LGBT conference. The international interdisciplinary scientifically-practical conference "Queer-sexuality: politics and practice" will be held on October, 6 with participation of experts from Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, Latvia and other European countries", - said Mr. Androsenko.
But the gay-pride anti-homophbia rally previously scheduled for October 11 was postponed to the end of the month.
On September, 26 the organizers the gay-pride filed an application in Mingorispolkom for a rally of up to 50 people to be held on October 11 in one of the Minsk neighborhoods. "On October 2, the organizers received a letter from the city authorities specifying the discrepancies in the statement submitted earlier. The Mingorispolkom has suggested fixing them and submitting another application. On October 3, the organizers submitted a revised application for the public action. This time the march is scheduled for Tuesday, October the 30th", said Androsenko.
Therefore, as he said, in respect of the Week of pride of LGBT-community, nothing had been said about postponing of the event. "We will carry out all activities, and then we will get ready for the rally. At least, now it raised a hope that this year we will be allowed to hold the rally legally. The city authorities did not want to prolong the proceedings and suggested to submit a new application", said Mr. Androsenko.
Androsenko also said that other public action will be organized on October 11 "in the legal format". "The annual Coming Out Day is October 11 - the day of open and voluntary recognition by the person of the affiliation to LGBT community. It has been celebrated since 1987 when on October, 11th, 500 thousand demonstrators stepped outside on streets of Washington demanding equality of the rights for gays and lesbians", - Androsenko explained.
