Rainbow NewsThere Can't Be Homopropaganda Says Head of Human Rights Presidential Council
22 Oct. 2012
Mikhail Fedotov, the Head of the Presidential Council on Development of Civil Society and Human Rights in Russia stressed that he "did not like" the initiatives to ban so-called "homopropaganda". "There can be neither homo-, nor hetero-propaganda", he said in his interview for Neva24 project. He has made this statement in Saint-Petersburg, in the city that enforces the scandalous laws with an excessive zeal.
"I do not like these initiatives. I do not understand why there is a need to impose the liability for propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations among adolescents but on the other hand it is normal to make propaganda of traditional sex? I personally do not get it...", he stressed and then added "we need to remember that the Russian Criminal Code has a number of articles that secure the protection of sexual immunity of adolescents. There can be neither homo-, nor hetero-propaganda".
It was not his first statement against gay hate laws acting in 8 Russian regions and the federal draft-law on that issue. Earlier Mikhail Fedotov sharply criticized "Don't Say Gay" laws in his interviews for radio "Svoboda (Freedom)" and "Echo of Moscow".
