27 Dec. 2012
For the first time a men's volleyball team from Russia has won the gold medal in prestigious European LGBT Championship. The golden newcomer team showed highest results during the Christmas championship that took place in the beginning of December in Frankfurt-am-Mein.
This contest in Germany was not the first one for the Russian volleyball team. The guys (5 from Moscow and 2 from Ekaterinburg) participated in the sports events in Düsseldorf and Budapest earlier and in Frankfurt-am-Meine they could show their high potential - outstanding play and steady 1st place.
The Russian Federation of LGBT Sports supported sportsmen and sportswomen from Russia to join the Championship in Frankfurt-am-Mein. There were 20 sportsmen and sportswomen in the Russian team who participated in 6 sports branches: basketball, volleyball, table tennis, swimming and fitness.
Women's basketball team "Businki" (the beads) from Saint-Petersburg has also confirmed its high sports rank in LGBT Games in Frankfurt-am-Mein. Girls have repeated their last year's success and won the first place.
