Rainbow News77% of Russians choose to "cure", "isolate" or "eliminate" homosexuality
12 Mar. 2013
Results of the latest survey of "Levada Center" show a significant increase of Russians hate towards homosexuals. 77% of the adult population was in favor of various forms of discrimination and restriction of human rights for LGBT people.
Tolerance for LGBT people in February was only demonstated by 23% of Russian citizens.
27% believe that gays and lesbians are in need of "psychological support", 22% insist on "forced treatment", 16% are for "isolation from the society" in prisons and camps, and 5% - for complete "elimination" of gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people.
Since the last such survey there is a 7% decrease in the number of those who agree to "leave gays and lesbians on their own", a 5% increase in the number of those who think that they should be "treated" and 4% - of those who offer to send us in prisons and camps.
85% of respondents were opposed to gay marriage, 87% were against gay parades in the country.
The survey data was released by the Interfax agency referring to Levada-Center. The latter has offered a detailed explanation of the poll's results >> (automatically translated).
