Rainbow NewsAfter talks with Stephen Fry Milonov promised to pray for him every day
14 Mar. 2013
The British actor Stephen Fry has eventually met with Vitaly Milonov, the Saint Petersburg Legislature's deputy, the author of the law which banned "homopropaganda", report "RIA-Novosti".
After his talks with the member of the city's legislature the British actor told the journalists that he had tried to tell him that he was not only protecting the rights of LGBT people but also the rights of those who wanted to be different.
Stephen Fry shares his impressions of his meeting with Milonov in his Twitter account. "All very sad. He regards liberals as the destroyers of Europe "look at Britain, destroyed by liberalism"... Milonov doesn’t seem to believe there are teenagers bullied and tormented for being gay, he thinks they make it up & indoctrinate to minors", wrote Fry.
In his turn Milonov told the journalists that his interlocutor was "an interesting and highly educated person". The deputy believes that Fry's main task was to make a film on how difficult it is to live in Russia. "They wanted to show that mass suicides of teenagers were taking place in Russia and that the Russians were slaves of the Church. Fry is a man with an already static system of values".
"I shall never agree with him and he will never agree with me. It was clear from the beginning... It is hard to imagine for Britain, throwing children into same-sex couples, that there is no such norm in Russia", stated Milonov. He also noted that he did not want Fry's values to be rooted in Russia and promised to pray for Stephen Fry and his family every day. "He is a very talented man" - said the Saint Petersburg deputy.
British actor Stephen Fry arrived in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday for filming a documentary. On Thursday morning he met deputy Milonov and took an exclusive interview with him that last for 1 hour and 15 minutes in Milonov's study in Mariinskiy palace.
