85% of Russian are sure that no "homopropaganda" will change their sexual orientation. 64% believe that even in their childhood their sexual behavior and orientation could not have been affected even by an aggressive gay molestation. These are the results of a poll published yesterday by Levada-Centre.

The answers on the question: How would you react when your kid would tell you that he (she) was gay? - are following:

  • 8% would try to coax or force him (her) to act straight
  • 6% said "I love him (her) and wish him (her) happiness and every success regardless of his (her) orientation"
  • 5% said they would kick him (her) out of the house and sever every communication with him (her)

According to other results of the poll one should note that 80% of Russians have never met open gays or lesbians. And less that 50% of respondents said that their opinion about a man would be worsened should he (she) have known about that a man was gay. The opinion of 29% would not be shifted. 19% - could not give an answer and only 2% informed that they would appreciate him (her) being gay.

This poll was conducted on June 20-24, 2013 through National representative sample of 1601 adult townsfolk and villagers in 130 populated localities of 45 Russian regions. The distribution of responses is given in percents from the whole number of respondents together with the data of recent polls. The statistical error is not higher than 3,4%.
