Rainbow NewsThose who violated the Silence Day action promised to do the same to everyone who supports LGBT
20 Apr. 2015
A 52-year old Anatoly Artyukh has publicly set on fire the billboards which had been torn by Orthodox activists from hands of single-picketing LGBT supporters who held the Silence Day action on Friday, March 17, 2015 in Saint-Petersburg. The police that had been "sentinelling" the picketers, did nothing to stop the violent clericals who came down heavily on LGBT activists and tried to beat them. The police was just taking down the ID details of picketers and paid no attention at all to violent behaviour of the Orthodox opponents.
Later Artyukh uploaded a video where he under the accompaniment of chant "the Christ is Risen!" offensively called the billboards a "loot". He also said that the "Children 404" group had no right to exist and would not exist". "We have our own flash-mob that would clearly show what will happen to that group and with all those who support "fags". Then he set the billboard on fire under the accompaniment of harmonica.
"I strongly oppose to be set on fire under the accompaniment of a song that had been so unsoundly sung and virtually send him (Artyukh) a message that our group will not be shut down nevertheless the numbers of billboards that he might set on fire" - was the reaction of Elena Klimova, a journalist and a supervisor of the "Children 404" project, on prank action of the Orthodox gay hater. She has also expressed her opinion about musical abilities of his "band support group" that stayed behind the scenes. According to Klimova, "women who tried to hide away from cameras sang with goatish voices".
As we have informed earlier, several single-pickets were held in Saint-Petersburg in support of the "Children 404" project despite the opposition of the so-called "Orthodox activists". The project might be closed by local court decision in the end of April.
Single-pickets, according to eye-witnesses, transformed into a mass procession of a hundred people from the Vosstaniya square to the Kazan Cathedral in Saint-Petersburg.
