Rainbow NewsMoscow’s Chief Rabbi about gays: "would not hang myself, but would support those who do so"
Rabbi Adolf Shaevich receiving Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" IV class
9 Jun. 2015
77-year-old Adolf Shayevich, Moscow's Chief Rabbi, leader of the Congress of the Jewish Religious Organizations and Associations in Russia (CJROAR), is not ready to participate in hanging gays, "but he would support those who do so." This were rabbi’s words in the interview by Ksenia Sobchak and Anton Krasovsky for media project Snob (automated translation >>).
Adolf Shaevich stated that "true Muslims, living to the rules of the Quran, are in no sense a cause of objections." And confirmed his total approval of "Muslims’ commandment of stoning homosexuals". "I support their attitude towards homosexualists, sexual minorities." - said Shayevich, as sited by Snob.
It is noteworthy that the same answer was given to journalist Anton Krasovsky, who had came out in early 2013: "So this is normal? To hang? You would hang them yourself?’’ - Demanded Krasovsky. "Would not do it myself, but would support those who do so", - shared Moscow’s Chief Rabbi.
The interview was a part of the project "Sobchak & Krasovsky: The road to the sanctuary." Just recently Sobchak’s pictures of herself wearing the robes of an Orthodox priest along with a false beard sparked hysteria among religious obscurantists and supporters of clericalism. The pictures are reported to have been checked for "extremism"and "homopropaganda".
Shaevich also described today’s Israel an "imperfect state" precisely because of the tolerance to LGBT citizens. "...Sodomy is a great crime that should be punished by stoning," - said the chief rabbi of Moscow.
