Putin decorated Milonov - Orthodox crusader against gay people - with the Order of Saint Vladimir for "Good, Honor and Glory"
13 Sep. 2015
Vitaly Milonov, Orthodox member of the United Russia party famous for his gay hate speeches and his calls to punish LGBT people, was decorated with the high state order. The Russian President Vladimir Putin signed on 8 September 2015 a decree #451 which said that Milonov was decorated with the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" 2nd degree - "for active legislative activity and long-term outstanding work".

The Russian authorities have highly appraised the activities of Milonov on the background of discussion about new offensive statements of this deputy addressed to the Russian citizens. For example, Elena Klimova, a journalist and curator of the psychological support project for LGBT teenagers "Children 404", was named by this politician as "vile creature, heathen and a monster". Two days before Milonov informed about his readiness to become a head of some city district and make it "a model" and promised to free this "model district" from homosexuals. In addition, he compared homosexuals to whores and drug addicts.

Milonov has already commented on Putin's decree by naming the decision of the authorities as "credibility advance" - "I hope that despite hurdles and difficulties I will continue my legislative and humanitarian work for the benefit of Petersburg and, possibly, of the whole nation", Flashnord.com is citing him as saying.

The Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" was established on 2 March 1994 by Presidential Decree #442. Its motto: "Good, Honor and Glory" follows the motto of the Imperial Order of St Vladimir.

And to add something more: it is not the first decoration of Milonov. In 2013 the Russian Defense Ministry awarded him the Order "For strengthening of military concord" - for "cooperation in accomplishing tasks by the Armed Forces".
